Can you post a link showing where the Post Office acknowledge this to be the case? Or are you just generalising your own experience to make it apply in all cases?

I'm not 'just' generalising anything. I am right. There is no link.

    Prove me wrong.

I don't need to, as I said, I don't use contactless at all, and I'm not the one claiming that an opinion is fact. If you can't provide anything other than anecdotal evidence to back up your opinion then that's what it remains.

Its still right. Took me a lot of work in the Post Office to form my 'opinion'.
  • But it did seem strange all of the staff were surpised when it didn't work at the 4 post offices I tried. They seemed to think other people had payed bills contactlessly
  • I wonder if it's just tsb who don't want you getting cash back off essential bills or if all contactless cards that don't work for this. Is there anyone who can post that they have successfully paid a utility bill with a contactless card.

Yes I spent ages trying to pay my Council Tax in chunks of £30 and Road Tax £20 and the counter staff couldn't work out why it wouldn't accept CL, seemingly the recipients require it to be C&P maybe for security. They also thought the failure might be because PO are a bank. Tried to buy a postage stamp, of course it worked contactless but bills wouldn't work!

In theory it should work but after multiple attempts on two seperate occasions I have given up until someone can report success.

Would be interested to know what contactless cards from other providers worked!

I was just reporting my own experience hoping it might help others but I've no idea of any official policy on paying bills by contactless.
  • So I assume you were using a tsb card?

Has anyone successfully paid a utility bill at a paypoint outlet (e.g. Sainsburys) using TSB contactless? If so, we could say it's bills at the PO that are the problem rather than bills in general.

Yes I was using two TSB cards about twenty times! Very tolerant counter staff.
