We are flying Emirates to Male (via DBX) next Easter. I was going to join their Skywards programme.
Can the miles for this flight (already booked via a travel agent) be added ?
Will 2 rtns have enough miles to qualify for an discounted upgrade to BC next time?

You should be able to earn these miles as you havent yet flown with them yet, go to www.skywards.com to sign up and for any advice ring, their manchester call centre 0870 241 2251.
You would earn 5302 miles each way, by flying economy and when flying again if you wanted to upgrade to BC by redeeming miles it would cost 37500 one way! so you'd need to do quite a few flights to get enough for that.0 -
So that would be 21 000 miles (2 passengers, rtn)? or will my wife have to join seperately to collect off her ticket ?0

You'll need separate accounts, but i think both get a first flight bonus miles addition.
It's taken me and the other half four Far East trips to get to 40,000 each.
Normal mileage redemption costs for a UK-Dubai return are 40,000 Econ and 80,000 Bus, but over the last couple of years they've done a half price miles offer around Ramadan.
We've just blown all 40,000 each on business class flights to Dubai in October. Cost us just £180 in taxes for a retail flight cost of £3180 inc tax, so extremely good value.0 -
is that 40 000 per BC rtn flight odowdchr ? That seems very low
Im sure I read you can buy miles at $0.025 each up to a max 25K points per year which is $625 Dollars. or just over £300 !!!!
If thats the case, budgetflyer + mrs will be turning LEFT on the plane next Ramadan:beer::j0 -
Gone ... or have I?0

It looks a goer.I'll need to leave it till end of OCT to join (to get the 2500 each bonus miles:cool:.) then buy our "extra miles"
I still have £2K to pay towards this holiday. I was thinking "Airmiles" Credit card.:D
Thats enough for a couple of freebies to Paris, Frankfurt or Amsterdam (from Edinburgh);) exc tax
It all seems too easythere must be a catch

Why do you need to leave it till the end of October to join, and what are the 2500 extra bonus miles?
I'm travelling on Emirates to Oz in November. Hubby and I have already joined Skywards. From what I understand you can't have your miles added until you have a reservation/booking reference and you get this off your ticket.
We will be getting miles from Birmingham>Perth return and bonus first flight miles. Are the 2500 extra bonus miles your first flight miles or is this something I need to know about
If it helps, I have a geographical number for Skywards Helpdesk rather than an 0870 number - 01625 445402.0 -
You apparently get 2500 bonus (first flight) miles added when you fly within 6 months of joining. I fly end of march.
This isnt really my first flight though, we missed out on 8000 miles each by not joining:o when we last went to Dubai.
That trip to Perth gets you 19000 miles each (eco flights). with your 2500 bonus miles you could get a economy freebie to Dubai during Ramadan next year (ex tax)0 -
Thanks budgetflyer. That's a nice lot of points we're getting :j
And I understand now why you wont be joining till October!
We also missed out on loads of points as we did a trip two years ago to New Zealand and never knew about Skywards at that time0
