Thinking about moving to Blackwater, Hampshire

Hello,
We are first-time buyers and have just viewed a house in Blackwater (walking distance to station) that we liked. As we are not familiar with the area, I was wondering whether anyone knows it/lives there and could let us know what they think of it.
Thanks!

Never lived there but have worked extensively in the area ( Hook, Camberley, Sandhurst)
What sort of info are you after?0 -
We looked at houses in Blackwater because it's one of the cheaper areas round this way. It was definitely in the running, but I was a bit concerned by the lack of facilities or any sort of community feel. As it happens, none of the houses were quite suitable, so we didn't investigate my concerns in any detail.0

Great transport links, Tesco, M&S, Next, Lidl, & Aldi all within spitting distance. Not necessarily to most swanky part of town, but as you say, more affordable.0

Hey frogmore,
We are currently renting in Camberley and absolutely love it! Really nice area with great shops and lots of places to eat, plus a really good cinema! I can't say much for Blackwater itself as I have only ever driven through to be honest, but the larger area I'm sure you will love! We have just reserved on a three bed in South Oxfordshire (closest to London we can afford) and will be quite sad to leave Surrey!0 -
I grew up not all that far away.
Blackwater is a cheap part of an expensive area. So I still think it's very expensive for what you get.0 -
I live close to Blackwater, and it's considered to be at the cheaper end for the other local areas (Frogmore, Sandhurst, Yateley, Camberley, Derby Green etc). It has the benefit of Aldi and Lidl right on the doorstep, and Tesco/M&S a stones throw away.
The closest town is Camberley, which has massively improved since the opening of the Atrium and has some decent restaurants and a cinema. It's also pretty close to Reading and not too far from either Guildford or Basingstoke.
It's on the Reading to Gatwick train line and so the journey to central London is not easy, but it's also within 10 minutes of the M3 and around 15-20 minutes of the M4.
Don't know much about the schools because I live in Bracknell Forest and Blackwater is in Hampshire, but they're probably OK.0
