My daughter got a TV for her room recently, it's a LG Smart TV and built in WiFi works great so she can stream Netflix, YouTube etc without any problems. However I'm struggling to get her TV tuned in.
Years ago we got a new tv aerial for use with BT Vision, I think this was a digital aerial (not sure if this makes a difference) we also needed a signal booster which I have moved into her room. Her room had an existing aerial cable that I traced up to the loft, it plugs into a box that the cable from our room and living room also plug into. The aerial is outside on top of the house.
When I connected and did the auto TV tune it found no channels. I suspected cable or connections so I bought a new 25m cable from B&Q and plugged into box in loft with other end into powered signal booster then TV. Still no channels found. As a test I took cable from loft and signal booster to TV in another room where TV was known to be working and plugged in, TV comes on OK (when signal booster plugged in)
So I have ruled out the cable and connections, just can't figure out why no TV channels are found. The other TV has built in freeview, I'm not sure if this is the difference, obviously the channels on working TV have already been found. Any ideas? Cheers.

Have you tied the signal booster in the loft so you get :-
box in loft -> signal booster -> cable to daughters room?
If that doesn't work, I'd take it back and try a signal in the shop from a working TV (assuming they have an aerial socket available).:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I don't have power in the loft, but since it works in the other room I'm satisfied cable and signal booster work. I'm just not sure if a digital aerial makes a difference???0

Plug in a known working TV in her room, does it work? If yes then nothing wrong with the aerial, must be the telly (or operator error).Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Are you definitely selecting antenna as the input source, and not cable?

In that case my idea won't work.
BTW, there's no such thing as a digital aerial.
A lot of people were conned into buying new aerials when the digital switchover was happening when it wasn't necessary.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Try connecting a dvd player or similar via the aerial input and searching again. If it finds that the analogue tuner is working. The other TV has built in freeview, I'm not sure if this is the difference0

Are you sure that the thing that you moved into her room actually is a signal booster?
If this is actually a power supply to power the distribution amp in the loft then it may only work when connected as it was connected originally i.e. output 1
Try moving it back where it was.0 -
Try moving the tv to another room with a working tv. Unplug the tv in that room and plug your daughter's tv in it's place. Can you now tune it in?0
