Keycodes on new cars
I have a 2015 Ford Fiesta. I wasn't given any sort of keycode when I bought the car. If the battery is disconnected do I need any sort of code when it is re-connected? This is my first car of the modern era and I have been used to putting a keycode into the stereo after reconnecting a battery. I can't find anything mentioned in my owner's manuals. Thanks.

The stereo is non-removable so probably isn't even protected by a key code. All the cars I have had with built-in permanent audio systems have never required any sort of code if the battery is disconnected/reconnected.0

On the Vectra C facelift from around 2005 onwards the audio system is coded to the cars ECU so it can't be used elsewhere unless it is divorced from the car and that requires a code, but just disconnecting the battery does not. Prior to 2005 the pre-facelift cars needed radio codes but were fitted with different radios. I suspect but don't know the Fiesta maybe similar to the former, ask a dealer or a on line owners forum.0

The stereo code will be in the handbook or on teh invoice if it needs one.
Some are coded to the VIN of the car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Just to be clear OP, are you talking about the code for the radio or the code for the key?0

I buy cars and keep them till they die. I want to make sure that when I install a new battery I have all the info I need to get the car running again. The last 2 cars have needed a keycode for the stereo. I understand that things like the engine management electronics and windows have to re-learn their settings. As the car is nearly one I thought I might just disconnect it to see what happens and then if there is a problem it is still under full warranty.0

Or you could, I don't know, maybe... ring the dealer and ask?I buy cars and keep them till they die. When you install a new battery dont disconnect the old one until you have an alternate power source attached.
I wont disconnect a battery these days without sticking a jump pack on or similar.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
