Credit card delay in processing

I hoping someone may be able to advise. I've tried to google without much luck!

Following a change in job (salary payment date changed) and until our letting contract is renewed, we pay out rent each month on the credit card and then 8 days later, once the salary has hit the current account, we pay it off.

Rent due 18th and I've always called 17th or 18th to make payment. It's never been an issue. Until today...

They are saying we need to pay cash into their account as the credit card payment won't clear until the middle of next week.

This was left as a message for me for when I called them to make payment; the lady who deals with the payments and who left this note for her colleague to pass onto me, is due back this afternoon and I will call her again then.

I am panicked because we don't have the money in out account to cover the rent.

Does anyone know why it takes so long for them to receive the payment from the CC company? I'm hoping a little bit of knowledge will help me in the call I will be having with them this afternoon.

Thank you in advance!

My credit card charges show within minutes on my accounts could it be they don't process them every day ? Maybe they don't want to pay the charges associated with credit card payment?

  • Thank you for replying so quickly. I'm hoping that it is something like this as, I am pretty confident as the client I can't be responsible for the processes they have in place! Providing I've made the payment on time, the rest is up to them!
