Lloyds Credit Card PPI

I recentley contacted Lloyds re my old credit card to claim ppi, they said no monies was owed due to me agreeing to have PPI, i thought i had taken the card out over the phone and was reassured it was done in branch and i had ticked the PPI box, to which working 16 hours a week for a local supermarket for a bit of pin money while my boys were at school, i did not take it out as my husband at the time would have met the payments. he had the application form in front of him this is from 2002. Now thinking about it i had the credit card up till 2012 but i was made redunant in 2009......... They new i couldnt make the payments and i was offered no help, so ppi does not cover redunacy. TIA

If you made a claim on the PPI in 2009 and it was rejected then, because the banks only need to keep records for 6 years, you may need to provide evidence that you made a claim on the policy in 2009 and that it was rejected.

If you have that evidence then put your claim in writing and refer the matter to the Ombudsman if the matter is not resolved after 8 weeks.

  • Thank you for your reply, sorry i wasnt very clear, but I did not make a claim in 2009 i just rang them to tell them that my circumstances had change. if only kept for 6 years how come the guy i spoke to on Tuesday had my credit card application in front of him from 2001, they have just declined my PPI claim i put in 3 weeks ago. hope this makes sense.

The banks need to keep records for 6 years after the account is closed. If you still had the card until 2012 then the bank should still hold the records.

Put your claim in writing, explaining why you consider the PPI was mis-sold to you.

If their letter confirms their rejection of your claim then you can go directly to FOS.
