Can I get my sale fees back?

I recently sold a chain on ebay, but when it came for packing the damn thing had gone a.w.o.l and I've not been able to complete the sale. I've torn up the cheque received and shall be posting it back to the buyer, who is fully aware and acknowledges the problem
Obviously I can't go down the NPB route so wondered if there was another way - Would be nice as ebay took around £1+ as a result of this auction.

Unforunately I don't think so. As far as ebay are concerned (as stated in their terms and conditions) you should have been in possession of the chain to sell it. Although you couldn't put your hands on it, it would be easy for ebay to assume you were never in possession of it. They could try and ban your account if you try to claim a refund. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0

Hi
You could try the NPB process but it would have to be as a mutual consent to claim your fees back, so the buyer doesnt get a non payin strike against him.R.I.P Sam, still in my heart0 -
I agree. With the NPB you can always select 'both buyers decided not to complete transaction' which means they will not get a strike.jaffa30 wrote:Hi

The problem is I am sure this way you dont actually get your fees back. I believe the only way to get your fees back is if you select " end transaction no longer wish to communicate " in which case the buyer gets a strike. I could be wrong but I choose the other option once, by accident and never got my fees refunded.0

Oh well - Guess I can put this down to experience, and I'd better have a more reliable "ebay selling" storage place for the bits and bobs. Thanks anyway.

Hi
I am almost 100% sure you get the fees back on mutual consent .
Give it a go what have you got to looseR.I.P Sam, still in my heart0 -
Yep, you definitely do.. although the buyer can refuse the "mutual agreement" which means you would lose the fees.. (IIRC)0
