I'm new to this!
in april 2016 a credit file for a loan I didn't pay back will be removed
Does this now mean my credit rating will go up?

Yes and no.
New lenders will appraise you at the time you make an application.
The lender you defaulted on will no doubt decline future business. By lender this could also include any related group company.0 -
It was with natwest so I suppose them and RBS are out the window!
