iPhone mail - connection to server failed

Randomly, out of the blue I'm now getting this message on a couple of my email accounts - see billy no reason for it, no settings changed etc. any idea how to fix it? Bear in mind I've googled and tried all the usual rubbish that doesn't work - reboot, airplane ,ode on and off, delete and re-add accounts etc. nothing works. I'm not prepared to reset network settings as don't want to lose all passwords etc.

Any ideas how to rectify? All very boring, this tech lark, at times.

Who are your Mail providers?

I've had this issue quite recently with Virgin Media.

It's a long shot, but my Android stops connecting to any accounts after the battery was removed and the date resets to something like 1990. Starts working as soon as I set the correct date.
