Ownership of house

Hi there,
I have a family member who has been married for 60 odd years and his wife has gone into care. On admission into care a questionnaire was completed by the wife that she co-owned the house. He keeps getting a letter from the local authorities asking if he is still living at the house and whether it has been sold. I'm assuming this to ascertain who is liable for the cost of care as this must be subsidised to an extent. I recently discovered that he owns the house solely in his name and as his wife did not work during their marriage she has had no financial input into the cost of the home nor and bills etc...
Can I just ask if anyone knows the definitive answer whether legally she has any co-ownership of the property by way of marriage.

the wife would still have a claim on the property
However whilst he is still alive hes fit to live there, so just fill the forms in that he is still alive and no the house isnt sold
The LA will put a charge on the home for when it is sold to reclaim their fees0
