E.On MSE Switch Sept 15 vs Feb 16
Hi,
I am confused as my MSE Switch Sept 15 bill states my standing charge of £15.64 and kWh charge of £10.25.
Cheap Energy club says I will save £12 a year, but states the new MSE Switch Feb 16 standing charge is £16.422 and kWh charge of £10.322.
Anyone understand why more expensive standing charge and kWh price results in a cheaper bill?!?
Thanks

VAT. It sounds to me as if the September 15 figures you are quoting exclude the 5% VAT on energy and the Feb 16 ones include it.
The EON standing charge has not changed between the tariffs and is 16.422 p (not £!)/day including VAT.
16.422 divided by 15.64 = 5%
It will be similar for the unit charges- so you need to compare 10.25p + 5% VAT = 10.7625p/unit against the 10.322p/unit of the new tariff

Morning richx_uk
As Sunil says, this is down to the VAT. The 16.422p per day Standing Charge is the rate, including VAT, for paying for electricity with a Monthly Direct Debit. This is the same for all regions and all our current tariffs including the collectives. The Standing Charge without VAT is 15.64p per day.
Prices per kWh for electricity differ depending on where you live. Like Sunil, I suspect those you've quoted are without. Something to be aware of when comparing tariffs.
Don't forget also to consider any possible discounts like paperless billing (£5 per fuel per year) and dual fuel (£20 per year). Check if the results include these or not.
Hope this helps richx_uk.
