Hi I paid asda credit card £4000 to lower my outstanding balance £3654 was due on the 15/02/2016 and £345.65 toward next months. I was told by them that as long as the payment is made and shows on the statement it appeared 10/02/2016 it would be taken into account. They now tell me it could take 7-10 days to refund the money nowhere does it say on there website that even if you make a advance payment the direct debit will still be taken, especially that I always pay it in full?? Sorry I should explain that they still took £3654 on the 15/02/2016 even though the £4000 shows on the account statement

  • Ask your bank to refund under the direct debit guarantee.

You probably left your payment too late to stop the direct debit mechanism commencing.
  • If you always pay in full by d/d why or why did you make the advance payment?
  • Was going on holiday so wanted to reduce the amount

Concerning the £345.65, you cannot make an advance payment against next month's payment due.
It makes no sense whatsoever to deliberately put a credit card into credit as an advance payment against next months due payment.
Also if you always pay in full by full balance direct debit why pay in advance of the dd being taken. Your answer above makes no real sense.
You are a full balance direct debit customer who always pays in full, has held the card for 15 years as stated in your other threads and has a monthly spend of almost £4000 and the state of your current account is such that the direct debit for the, presumably unexpected, £3654.35 was able to be taken with no problem. you should be getting good customer service from them. What explanation did they offer about the direct debit? Have they agreed to refund the credit balance? Did they apologise?
The reason for the direct debit being taken was due to there being an insufficient number of working days between the date of receipt of the payment and the date of the direct debit for the direct debit to automatically cancel itself.
