Switching from one BG Collective Fix to Another

Hi

I'm a British Gas dual fuel customer. Currently I'm on "Collective Fix November 2016"

I've been reading about the latest Cheap Energy Club "February collective fix".

In the MSE newsletter e-mail it says:
Existing BG & Sainsbury's Energy custs can switch to it with no exit fee regardless of their tariff, and get the £30 cashback.
However when I do the Cheap Energy Club comparison it says:
Collective Fix November 2016 Early exit fees: £60 (unless you're 50 days from the end)
End date: 30 Nov 2016
And
Your current tariffs have exit fees of up to £60. You'll need to factor this in against the saving if you're going to leave early.
So who is right? Do I have to pay early exit fees or not; if I switch from one British Gas Collective switch to another?

My projected savings on the new tariff are only £59 pounds a year and not worth doing if I have to pay £60 in early exit fees.

I only have a day to decide; so any advice is appreciated.

  • Same situation as me. I've gone ahead with the switch assuming the email was correct and I wouldn't pay the fee. If I do have to it will be slightly offset by the £30 cashback anyway.

Be interesting to find out the correct answer tho!
Am i here to save money or spend money......hmmmmm
  • Thanks.

It would be nice if we could get a definitive answer from someone at MSE and/or the Cheap Energy Club.
  • If you search this forum you will find that "MSE Dan L" has officially answered this question many, many times in the past 10 days and the answer is
Existing BG & Sainsbury's Energy custs can switch to it with no exit fee regardless of their tariff, and get the £30 cashback.

If you are swapping to British Gas Dual Fuel Collective deal .

Remember that there were 3 winning companies for different market segments so if you choose electric only then the deal was with Eon. Green Energy was with Bulb, and dual fuel with BG.
