I agree with the posters who suggested charity shops. Otherwise, Sainsburys or primark should be fine.

Bit of a long shot but dry cleaners may give away clothes after a length of time - you could enquire where they give them to e.g. they may say charity shop, homeless shelters etc -If a charity shop try the nearest one. Dry clean only suits can be nice ones
You could borrow a suit when needed for interviews off a similar sized friend/family member, unless it's needed daily suits are not always necessary when you get the job - my husband only wears tailored pants, shirt with tie. The management only wear jackets
He only puts on his only suit when it's a wedding, funeral etc

  • It might be worth asking in the charity shop if they have suits because they are often kept in the back. :)
  • If you find a suit in a charity shop you can get it cleaned for free in many branches of Timpsons if you're going to a job interview.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • I would say it depends on how much time you have before your interview. If you have time, then sometimes you can find real bargains in charity shops and this may mean you get something that will last longer. However, if your interview is in the next few days then it appears Matalan do a suit for £40. This would also be absolutely fine. Supermarket chains and Primark may also be good options. For the supermarkets you can likely check online to see if they have something suitable before going. The most important thing is to make sure that you look neat, clean and tidy.

Make sure you iron your shirt, polish your shoes and stand up straight. Good luck!

    Greenwoods for mens suits xxx
  • A friend got a great suit for his daughter's wedding at our nearest M & S outlet - it was going to be £60 but when he got to the checkout that type had been further reduced and it was about £44 for an Italian wool suit! For myself, I've relied on chazzas for business clothes for years (with an occasional foray into TK Maxx).

I too second (or third :D) the suggestion of charity shops if you have time.

    My recent bargain:

    Hey guys!
    I got a bargain!

Bought a grey Crombie - it's the proper make, not a look-alike - coat for OH from our local Hospice shop.

Very good condition, checked the lining and pockets, paid £15.00.
    Fits OH perfectly.
I looked on the Crombie website and found this:

    £595 reduced from £895.
If you're planning to buy from somewhere like Matalan, F&F, George etc, I would recommend that if possible you try on instore (rather than ordering on-line) if you are short of time as the sizing/cut may not be that great.

^^A brilliant find, Pollycat - and a great example of the quality you can find at the chaz :T

There is no way the likes of Matalan can hope to match this.

When my OH's company went 'smart casual' instead of formal, we took probably 4 or 5 very good quality - 100% wool - suits to our hospice shop.

If the OP could drop on a bargain like that, he'd be made.
