You won't be able to get housing benefit so why not try and sell? That way you will be able to afford to buy a new property in a different city.

Well even if I wanted to let it out I couldn't afford the gas check and walk that other stuff to make it letable.

I'd only let it to professionals anyway and I've tried with no luck.

Yet you expect someone to let you a property whilst claiming housing benefit?

do you see the irony in how you'll only let to professionals, despite wanting someone else to let a property to you, relying on benefits?!?!:rotfl:

If you read through some of the other posts this person has started, I'd say it's fairly plain to see they are trolling.

Complaining because the Jobcentre expect him to work full time - that was a classic! ;)

From what he has said, the sale of his home would not raise enough to buy somewhere in a place he might find work.
Is it realistic to expect someone to sell their only home, and risk being homeless in a strange town if they couldn't find work?

Why would they be homeless? They own the home outright so would have funds to either rent or buy in another city. I'm sure someone in their position would be able to get work easier than someone who has too factor in rent or mortgage when considering what a job pays.

It is reasonable to assume the sale proceeds would cover many months rent in said strange town.

Well do its not perfectly usable as it's in a deprived area with no jobs.

But you could rent it out and use the money to rent somewhere yourself.
