in Credit cards
Hi this is my first post just looking for advice; i recently checked my credit score with experian only to find it was 633/1000 which is 'poor' when i checked my credit report there was a default on my account from Vodafone from 6 years ago, this was for an amount of £42.00. I can't remember recieving bills or reminders but agreed to pay it to get the default removed.
Having re-checked my credit report and the default has been removed i re-checked my credit score but it remains the same??
Will my score go up? and if not then who do you approach for credit with such a score?
Many Thanks in advance.

This score is meaningless and I certainly wouldnt pay to see it. Companies offering finance have their own credit scoring systems so while this default may get you declined at one place, another may disregard it completely.0

I wouldn't regard it as meaningless. (but I know what you are referring to)
I would use this score as a indicator now you know it is poor then keep an eye on it for any other defaults or unsettled accounts as and when you finish with them so your score doesn't dip any lower.
Personally I don't heed them too much but use them to check my accounts have been settled correctly ,the credit score then automatically remains high and you continue to obtain credit.
Give yours a couple of months and have a look again or apply for a credit card to see the response.
If you are still concerned read martin's articles on credit scoring .
