Energy switch when moving house

Hi,
Apologies if this seems a stupid question!
We are going to be moving house this Friday (renting), and will officially hand back the keys to current property on 25th Feb. We are currently with SSE for energy in current property. We were initally just going to stick with them, and transfer account over once in new property (we don't know who currently supplies the new house). However we were wanting to try and take advantage of this new switch on Cheap Energy Club as if we switch to British Gas Fixed we could save money, even with the early leaving fees with SSE. However, I'm not sure if we could actually do this, as we would need to switch from our current address, which we're leaving..
Are we basically too late for this MSE switch due to our moving dates etc?
Thanks

I did read that thread already, however I thought it was about someone not wanting to pay the standard (higher) charges when they moved into a new property lol Think we'll just need to miss out of this MSE switch and just move our current supplier over and then see what is cheaper.0

You wouldn't be tied to any SSE contract at the new property as you would be starting on a deemed contract for whoever supplies the property. You are free to start a transfer as soon as you are deemed to be responsible for the new property on Friday.
No exit fees are due for your current property upon moving out, only if you switch suppliers within the contract dates0 -
You said we wouldn't have exit fees with SSE in our current house when moving out? But surely if they allow us to move our account over to the new property and switch from whoever supplies it, and we choose not to then we are leaving our contract early?0

the contract relates to the supply at each separate property not you as a person. if you ask SSE to move your account to the new property they will close your account at the old one (no exit fees apply as you are not breaking the terms of the contract) and initiate a transfer request for the new property and arrange a brand new contract for this property. (if they are already the supplier at the new property they wont have to initiate a transfer and set up the new contract from the date you moved in)0

I didn't know this.. So when I phone SSE up to say we have moved house and will no longer be responsible for energy at this address, they still just close our account and we don't have to pay the £60 exit fees? This is good news lol thanks!0 -

My advice would be to read SSE's Terms and Conditions for the contract that you are on. Some suppliers do now change a Termination Fee if you are moving home:
8.2 If you terminate the contract during a fixed term period because you are moving home you may be required to pay an early exit fee. We will agree to waive early exit fees in certain circumstances however this must be agreed between you and us prior to your home move and in all cases would require you to register your new property with us within an agreed period of time. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I will do! There may be hope yet.. But if not, guess we'll just move our account if it's allowed.0

I just checked my contract and they don't charge these fees if we move house, doesn't say about having to move your account either. I didn't check the T&Cs in the first place as I thought they would always try to get money from you one way or another! Lol0
