Bank Account on Credit File

Dear All,
Apparently I opened a bank account with Santander in Spring 2010 and have never received anything from them.
A few months ago I started getting statements from them. No overdraft on there and no balance either.
I tried to register the account to access online banking just to check it out but it said I wasn't allowed to do this.
I thought nothing of it until today as it is now showing on my credit file, first time since it was allegedly opened in 2010.
I will try and call them but wondered if anyone had anything similar or if there is anything I need to do etc?
Thanks

That does seem strange - what have they actually put on your credit file? Depending on what they have put you may be able to get the information removed if it is incorrect.
I would suggest going into the bank and closing the account to prevent any further issues. You should also keep your eye on all 3 credit files for a little in case anything else pops up there that you don't recognise.
