Default Notice Removal

Hi,

I sent a letter to NatWest VISA requesting the charges they took from my account totalling £293 and as part of that requesting that they take a default notice of my credit record. The card was paid up 2 months after the default and the account closed.

They have offered me £122, the difference in the new £12 charge and the old. However, they have made no mention of the Default.

It's the Default I really want removed so I'd like some advice re best course of action.

Can I say I'll take the £122 as part payment but want the rest and default removed? Or is there another option? I've seen the method of asking for the documentation on the default.

Your advice is welcome.

  • claim the charges back, fair enough.

But why the default removed? You paid late on numerous occassions so you've got a default.

I'm going to be frank, I do not understand the hysteria people are creating.

They spend money & can't afford to pay it back. Fair enough, the charges do not help.

But there has to be stuff on a credit file. Or else people could apply for more credit, be approved & then in the same position a few months down the line.

At least if people cannot afford credit, they cannot get it. Otherwise they may blame the bank for their debt cos the bank lent them the money ;)

What exactly was the default for ? Non/Late payment or exceeding your credit limit ?

Just because you paid the balance of evantually does not mean they need to take the deafault off. Your credit file reports on your repayment behaviour. If you did miss payments then the default stays regardless of whether you then paid the balance off in full at a later date.

You could try the following suggested action via the link below:

It would be nice if it worked.
