Can't go on...

I've never been great with money. I took out a 7k loan 3 years ago that I'm still paying off.

I lost alot of sleep last time I got into debt and promised I'd never do it again. But due to losing my very poorly paid job it's happened again.

I'm nearly £1000 overdrawn and it keeps getting bigger as I have to pay rent and bills on the house we live in.

I have interviews and stuff lined up but no money is coming in and I just don't know what to do. I'm at my wits end and sat here in tears because I can't even motivate myself to get out of my jammies.

Please, can anyone help? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

    It looks like this

Overdraft is currently at £647 the rent (£495) hasn't gone out yet.

    Rent £495
    Council Tax £68
    Loan £208
    Mobile phones £45
    TV licence £11

I don't have any income at present, due to leaving/getting fired from my last job for asking for money. We also have a credit card and the balance is about £40 at the moment.

Overdraft is at £900 and the interest is 18%apr. I haven't tried to apply for benefit, I don't know if I'm entitled to anything. My parner works, and tries his best, but he isn't doing too great either.

It is my fault that I got me/us into this mess.

Is that just your account or is your partners wage going in before the next lot of rent goes out? are you going to be unable to pay the rent altogether or just not be able to make your half.

  • You should be entitled to JSA only they can be funny if you were sacked or left voluntarily, you have to make sure they believe there is a valid reason for you doing this.

My advise as I have been through the benefit trauma this year is whatever they send you answer it, my belief is they will send forms after forms after forms to put you off claiming.

Make sure you fill them in!!

Are these the only debts you have?

I'm not sure. I left my old job to start a new job in photography about 6/7 weeks ago but I never had to sign anything and was paid cash in hand so I don't know how I'd prove I worked there. I was fired in the end becuse I refused to work ridiculous hours (60 hours p/w for £130) but I don't know to approach the jobcentre about all this stuff.

  • Try not to blame yourself as that wont help. If you have children you can claim child tax credit if your income is below thirty thousand. £45 seems a lot for mobile phones I guess that you are locked into a contract if not I would shop around. Maybe talk to the bank explain that your income has dropped and ask their advice. I wish you well with your interviews and hope that you feel better soon. :hello:
