Hi, Just a quick question on npower billing. Over the last few years I have had three refunds listed in my npower statement and on each occasion the refund amount has appeared in the Debit column and the account balance has been reduced by the same amount as the refund. Has anyone else noticed this in their billing? I have complained but the replies are a poor attempt to fob me off.
In my last bill it stated in large letters "We've refunded £176.28 to you" but what npower did was take that out of the account. Do they need a dictionary?

I had a lot of issues with the billing at NPower, the staff there are typically clueless as they say that the "Computer" manages everything.

I think what happens is that a bill is generated, your accumulated payments then have all of the bill removed from the amount, but they state it in a way on the paperwork that can be quite odd. Where you start to get confused is when a new payment is made "from them to them" or when they adjust a payment "from them, to them". So changes in your direct debit amount, meter readings, other refunds - all tend to generate new bills, and the new bills tend to reverse the previous bills using "Refunds". This is confused even more by the fact that sometimes the "Refund" values are actually values that might appear on a bill that has not yet been generated.

Look at your usage, look at your monthly payments. Work out if your paying about what you should be. Their billing is horrible and I honestly would like to pummel the designers of the system.
