Collective switch - current supplier competing
I've been with Scottish Power since I bought my house 10 years ago and they've always tended to be one of the most competitive suppliers so haven't swapped as savings were trivial. I have gone for the new switch to British Gas as I would be going from £633 down to £553 a year.
Scottish Power have now called trying to get me to stay offering their newest tariff (which beats the British Gas switch gas unit price). That tariff works out as £593 for a year...
I'm just a bit nervous about this trend as Scottish Power released two cheap tariffs in the last few months each with a fair drop in price (fixed Nov 16 and fixed Jan 17). Could this continue during the year so that by the end of the year they're beating the BG collective switch and it'd then cost £60 to switch before Feb next year?

I have had a look at my crystal ball and the outlook is cloudy. Who knows what major international political events could occur in the next year?
A fix gives you certainty about prices. If exit fees worry you, then look at separate suppliers for gas (Zog Saturn 12) and GBEnergy (Fixed). They provide me with a deal which costs less than MSE's best and I can move at will. You do not have to follow Martin's advice. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks Hengus, will check into that.0

Scottish Power seems to be very competitive in some areas, like where I am, and not so hot in others. So here it hasn't been worth swapping away. I was starting to wonder for the past two weeks, but they just launched the next tariff.
Was the call yesterday or today? The new Scottish Power deal to April 2017 is cheaper than the 2 tariffs you mentioned.0
