HMRC Overpayment?

Hi,
A solicitor engaged in helping against an unsubstantiated claim against a Will for which I was executor, has spotted an overpayment to HMRC in terms of Inheritance Tax. This is obviously good news, but in the letter the solicitor sent me for signing to proceed with the repayment request, the solicitor asks HMRC to make a cheque drawn out in favour of their name, instead of mine. Is this usual practice please, I find it perplexing - I am the executor, surely HMRC cheques concerning the estate should be made out to me?
Many thanks.

It is easily resolved. Solictors often have money belonging to clients and they put it in separate bank accounts. They can simply give you a cheque for the same amount.0

It's quite common, if they are acting on your behalf. The money will be paid into their client account. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0
