Possibly selling my Focus MK1 zetec 2002 plate. Just gone through the MOT again. Is in good nic for year but has a dent in one of the wings, small scartch and dent above oneof the arches and scratch on passenger side door. If I can find the right colours I can definitely replace wing and door no problem as parts are cheap.

Was just wondering if anyone new how much this would effect the value of the car and if I really need to repair them.

I think the price for these is varied depending on conditoin etc but it is a zetec with ew, a/c etc so was thinking might get £900 possibly.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

There's an abundance of these cars out there. personally a 2002 plate it not worth no more than £5-600 in my eyes in perfect condition. I can shop around many others. parts are cheap and This is the issue for you, people will know they are cheap and therefore not care too much about small scratches and wings etc. This is what I would call a disposable car, it will be a stop gap for a 12 month while something else is sought or a temp replacement/donor/Bangernomics.

I just picked up a 1999 1.6 with AC and EW and sunroof and fog lamps ford 14inch alloys and spoiler for a neighbour. cosmetically its bruised, but has a MOT with 4 month left on it, cost him £100.00 needs about £50.00 spent on it to do the brakes and a ball joint. a days work with a manual on a dry weekend I reckon and will go through another mot once these are done as there is no rust under it or in its arches and the previous owner threw in some drop links, new valeo clutch and slave and handbrake cables and the exhaust is blowing slightly but at a flexi that can be replaced.

the car is worth its cambelt & clutch job. Just drive it until a cambelt job is due and then sell it to whoever wants it for whatever you can get for it.

As above, i'd be inclined to drive on at it.

If you are going to sell it, i'd describe it honestly - "car has several age related dings and marks, however has full years MOT".

Looking at sold auctions on the ebay, the first 11-12 pages are all MK1's spares or repairs - after page 13 you get to running cars with minor damage for £300 upwards.

If your Focus was low mileage with full upto date service history and mint, you maystruggle to get £900 for it. So many other newer cars on the market for £1000.

Drive it until something breaks on it that costs too much to repair.

Seems crazy that I olny paid £1500 for it 2 and !/2 years ago but I insisted it had a new timing belt on it. It was also through a freind who deals in cars who is trustworthy. Ive gone back to them about part ex.

Was in good nic with 95000 on clock

The clutch might be going now as well does anyone know the cost of purchase and repair?

you have paid for the cambelt indirectly. £900 for 2.5 of motoring is great value.
  • These are very decent cars and there are still loads about, which is an indication of their popularity. Alas, these cars are not worth very much and you need to aim at the bangernomics market. It is not worth spending big money on. I would drive it until a big bill crops up then sell on for spares/repair.

  • I got £500 trade in for my mk1 2000 reg in 2011 and it was immaculate and 60k miles. no dints, new cam belt regularly serviced. Dont think you get much for it unless you go private even then doubt you get much more £300 to £400

I assume around £250? It's not a particularly difficult one to do from what I know.
