Credit card Balance transfer to incorrect credit card number

Please could anyone help. I requested a balance transfer from my Barclaycard to my new credit card MBNA. I submitted the card details online but having spoke to MBNA 3 days ago as my Barclaycard balance remained the same I unfortunately got 1 digit incorrect when requesting the transfer online! They have advised they will recall this money, and I'm sure I'm not the only one to make this mistake, but effectively I now owe double the amount. I am so worried that the funds have reached another persons account and I they won't correct my mistake !

Hopefully it will be sorted out fairly quickly. It's not uncommon.
Keep in touch with MBNA so you know what is going on. Be prepared for making payments on both cards until it is resolved though, as you do have a legitimate debt on both cards unfortunately.0 -
Hi Joannebetty,
My understanding is that when it is customer error the bank who submitted the funds can recall the payment from the recipient bank however the recipient bank is under no obligation to pay those funds back and it can take up to 8 weeks.
I know this is not the answer you wanted to hear but my partner used to work in the payments section of a credit card company and I remember him telling me about this.
If it was bank error then they would be liable to repay the money to yourself whether the receiving bank sent the funds back or not.
Hopefully the person whose account the funds have gone to haven't spent them or they are sitting in a holding account so they can be easily identified.#27 £2016 in 2016 = £763.61
