Built under gas grill keeps cutting out

Built under Newworld gas grill keeps cutting out. Works for a short time then just goes out. Also oven/grill knobs get really hot when on and look like they are starting to melt. Don't know if grill that keeps cutting out can be fixed or would I be better off getting a new built under double gas oven to replace it.
Thanks

It could be the flame safety device - it's a little thermocouple that detects heat, if the flame goes out it cuts the gas. If it's faulty, or the probe has been knocked out of line so that it's not in the flame, it gets cold and thinks the flame has gone out.

I'm not sure if you have such a device fitted - I used to have a gas oven and there was a cut-out device on the hob, the oven and the grill. But if one is fitted, it's cheap and simple to replace, it may be worth checking this first ?
  • Thanks for your reply, I think I now know what the problem is after some research. A new FAN CONTROL PCB BOARD to stop the problem of overheating. I got part number from NEWWORLD website and the item costs about £25. Don't know how much to fit though and who to get to fit.

I'm afraid I can't help you with who to fit it, in terms of a specific person. But the usual ways to find someone are either a local domestic appliance repair shop, if you have one, or else ask friends / neighbours / local community Facebook page for recommendations.

Failing that, your best bet is probably to look here : http://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/default.aspx

Any one who works on gas appliances should be registered on the GSR ( it's the replacement for the old CORGI registration ).

Hope this is of some help.
