No Check-in inventory and ignored complaint

I am moving out an apartment I have rented for 4yrs. There was no check-in inventory, however a flat inspection was done last year. Around the same time I reported an issue with the paint falling off of the bathroom ceiling above the shower. Emails were exchanged regarding ventilation however the falling paint was never fixed. To stop the paint falling in my hair whilst showering I have since painted over it.
I am I likely to be charged for this painting? And also if no inventory was taken when initially moving into the property, will this affect my deposit?
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

No inventory equals no ability to deduct from deposit.0 -
The onus is on the Landlord to prove that you've caused him/her to suffer a loss. Fairly difficult for them to do if they haven't carried out an inventory which you've signed (which I'm assuming they've not). Further, the fact that you've repainted an area which by the sounds of things, was in need of redecoration will not be detrimental because it needed to be painted anyway thus the Landlord has suffered no diminution in the value of their interest.0

Always work on the basis that you should return the property as it was when you moved in (aside from a minor wear and tear).
In terms of the paint, if it was falling away and you've repainted it, I don't see that there is an issue. You've rectified the problem.
It really varies depending on your agent and LL but if anything I would suspect NOT having an inventory will be less of an issue for you. The lack of inventory would have been your LL choice and poses a greater risk to them than it does to you.0 -
Could be argued that it should be you charging them for painting itGather ye rosebuds while ye may0
