The great thing about these tips is they are all common sense.

Especially number 1 :)

Of course it helps if the car was properly made in The Olden Days too :D
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I keep thinking of changing my 2007 Toyota Landcruiser. But then I get sensible, and remember that its never broken down, it doesn't rattle. No DPF. No DMF. Lots of people in the LC club have done 200,000 or 300,000 miles.

So instead I found a specialist to give it a mid-life go-over. He rebuilt the brakes, changed all the fluid - especially the diffs and autobox etc. He reckons its all set for another 100,000 miles.

That should be your forever car, with new emissions etc there won't be another like it.

And that's the last of the Defenders which will also hold its value very well, but not a patch on the Land Cruiser for comfort.

toyota could teach landrover a thing or two. Too many range rover drivers accept the BS that "big heavy cars go through more strain than small cars" and just accept that they will have to take it for a major repair every 10,000 miles.

What major repairs would they be?

Range Rovers are one of the best cars on the road. Just check out your local Premier Football Club Car Park. I would have one if i could justify the cost of one.

They ain't known for buying quality cars and when they do they're no advert for one.

Having driven all but the latest shape I'm still waiting to hear about the major repairs every 10,000 miles.

Big difference between a Defender and a Range Rover and I know which one is more likely to still be around in 30 years and it isn't the Range Rover.
