Money in trust from will

  • The last thing the son tried was threatening to burn the house down around MIL's husband, I personally think this should be enough to get him removed as an executor, but it seems not, probably as there were no witnesses to the threat.
Hubby and I will have to borrow money to pay this bill and this is worrying us. The solicitors were chosen by MIL so we are a bit stuck.

How do you know the threat was made if there were no witnesses to it? Is he actually likely to do something like this or was it bluff and bluster when faced with something he didn't want to accept?

  • Allegedly the son made the threat to MIL's husband but this is the problem, between the son making threats (I have no idea if he would carry them out) and MIL's husband finding solace in red wine, it's difficult to know

Was the house just MIL or joint.

Not sure what burning it down achieves?

does he want FIL out so it can be sold.

If there is just a house seems one simple solution is to do nothing till FIL wants to move or passes on.
  • The house was just in MIL's name.
I'm assuming the threat was designed to make MIL's husband abandon the house and run for the hills.
If FIL moves out the house can be sold.
We need to ensure FIL s protected against the other son's shenanigans.
I think we have just decided to walk away as the solicitor seems to think FIL is safe for now.
