...And you can get a device with autocorrect which makes souffle with your post for even less.;)0 -
Glad we chose induction. As responsive as gas, but if you get one with no 'knobs' on and is just a glass plate with touch controls so easy to clean as they never get 'that' hot and burn things on...0

I bought the Neff T40B31X2GB for my new kitchen. All in all I'm very pleased with it.
The hob can run of a 13 amp plug but my electrician hard wired it in. I wonder though if you decided to go down the road of using a plug and you had 3 or 4 zones going at the one time would the plug be suffice to supply enough power. Maybe that's why the spark hard wired it.
The only minor niggle I'd have is that you can't use the boost function if you have more than one zone on. The hob defaults to 9. I'm assuming if you move up market that would not be a problem.
I haven't got gas in my area and if necessary would go induction again

On our AEG 70cm induction hob you can only have one area each side on full boost (P), and if you're using one area on full boost the other area on that side will only go to 5 (out of 9+P), if you try to go further it reduces the area you had on P to 9. It's to avoid overload, as on the P setting the heated area will pull 3.2Kw! And yes, ours is hard wired in, not on a 13A plug.
Another feature I love with ours, when the phone goes you touch 1 special button and every active area turns straight down to the "keep warm" setting - then when you've finished on the phone and come back to the hob, touch that button again and every active area goes back to where you had it set. Handy!0 -
If I can call it that, 'the phone call feature' is a great idea0

Gas hob have a slightly smaller cut out, so there may be some cutting to be done. Mainly on the front 560 wide x 480 deep on most gas, and 560 x 490 on inductions.
One other thing with inductions is they generate a close magnetic field, nothing to be concerned about, but people with pacemakers can be affected by the field. You have to be standing over it cooking. The newer digital pacemakers i am unsure about.0 -
I too had to buy new pans and I found an amazing array of German, French, Italian, brabantia etc etc in tkmaxx and homesense. Absolutely top quality and ranging from around £7 to £25 for large pans etc... I have battled all my life with ceramic and electric hobs as well as dabble with gas. Nothing touches induction and I cook daily....0
