Is it important to clean on completion?

It would be nice for you to clean any stains, mess, etc.
But no matter how well you clean, the new owners will also clean, including the parts that do not need a second cleaning but doing so would make the new owners feel better. For example, toilet seat, fridge shelves.
I'm sure you'll clean the toilet seats in your new place too, even if the previous own did so on checkout.0 -

I've heard 'Do as you would be done by' and 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' but never the AdrianC mash up version.
I prefer 'Do unto others before they do unto you'.
That's quite pedantic.0 -

This, really - you don't need to be as scrupulous as you would if it were a letting agency charging you £20 for every scuffmark.0 -

Clean it! It will bring you good karma.
If you're using removers:
It doesn't have to be an absolutely thorough spring clean. Just dust and hoover. You can dust beforehand. Then, as the removers empty each room in turn, whip round the skirting boards with the duster and hoover. It really doesn't take long. If you're using removers you'll find you're not that busy at all - you'll mostly be trying to stay out of their way.
If you're not using removers:
Trickier, but do what you can. Try and still hoover once a room is empty.1 -

We are completing on our sale and purchase on Thursday - very excited and nervous! It will be a very busy day and I can't see how I'll have time for cleaning. Is it very important to clean before leaving? Our home isn't filthy but it's not spotless either... Advice welcome! Thank you
Its simple, leave the house how YOU would like to find it. Not having time is no excuse.0 -

If you prefer, we could refer back to the original Aramaic.I prefer 'Do unto others before they do unto you'.
It's a fine line between getting your retaliation in first and starting it.1 -
If you can't, you can't.
But you should at least do it as much as you can in the week leading up to completion.
If you're the person in charge of removals day, then you'll be all over the place answering questions, managing the removals team, checking all the keys/information are laid out, keeping an eye on the time, answering random questions.... and you've got to get your key delivered to the EA and pick up your new key from another EA before dashing to the new house before the removals men and then directing them box by box and room by room at the new place (even if you painted all the boxes different colours for different rooms they'd still ask!).
So, one person, moving on their own, can't also have a hoover up their 4rse.0
