    • For up to six years after purchase (five years from discovery in Scotland) purchasers can demand damages (which a court would equate to the cost of a repair or replacement).

    A practical example. I bought a DVD recorder from Argos and it went wrong just over a year later so I took it back. They refunded me 5/6 of the original price which I thought was fair bearing in mind I had had use of it for a year. I paid another £20 and got a better recorder than I had before.

    Thanks for the contact Dave, £35, dropped it off Monday evening and got a call before 10 on the Tuesday to say it was fixed
