Vauxhall zafeira ecu fault

Hello long story but my car has a failed ECU
I'm told it's a known common fault with this model.
It's going to cost £1000 to replace, surely if Vauxhall are aware it's a common fault they must put it right? I'm thinking in light of the recent tumble dryer saga (and praying)
Anyone know anything about it!?

Depends on what causes the fault. Is it something that should be picked up when servicing?
How common is the fault?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I don't think it would be picked up in servicing as it's the main engine electronics board.
I googled it and if just says very common fault.
It doesn't help that the electronic board is situated under the wheel arch on the passenger side un protected so it's open to water damage.

Crap design.
you may find its not the ecu but something else. My mechanic had a couple from the scrappy when mine was playing up
edit googled it and you are correct it says its the ecu but can you find one in the scappy0 -
Hmm. If I got a scrap one, would a normal garage be able to fit it? The quote I had was £1000 for a genuine one with a 5 year guarantee.0

There are companies that will test ecus and repair if necessary, eg:-
