Hello! I moved to UK from Hungary two weeks ago and would want to know more about opportunities getting a job here. I'm 30 and I have a university degree in finance plus some experience back home. Initially, I thought about getting an MBA here, but financing it would be problematic. Plus, some friends that live in UK for years recommended getting a CeMAP/CeFA instead. So you see my dilemma. What should I start with? What should I pursue first?
Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

As you appear to be in need of a job, you could be unconventional and check the job ads in the broadsheets and on websites of financial services companies; sign up with an agency.0

Whether it's worth getting any of those qualifications depends entirely on whether the types of job you want - which you haven't mentioned - would use those qualifications and be valued by an employer.
Most people would start with a job first, because jobs do exist for people who already have relevant degrees and experience, and then only progress to getting some professional qualifications in parallel with their job.
I would forget the idea of MBA for the moment. In some countries it might be useful or even expected add something that a high flying junior executive tries to get once he had a bachelor degree. However over here (generalising), saying you are a Master of Business Administration is of little use if you can't demonstrate that you actually have some senior-level experience in your chosen field. People will see through the paper qualification, and look at what you can offer in real experience which will help their business.
Especially recruiting for entry-level jobs where you need the employer to train you, the employer will prefer someone who has actually spent their time getting practical operational or management experience to offer them instead, rather than just saying you know the theory of business. Also, you would benefit more from both the MBA course content and the networks of contacts you might make, if you do it later in your career.
Anyhow, the first thing I should have said is, this board is a forum to discuss savings and investment options in the UK and not how to find employment. If you go a couple of levels up from this sub-forum you will find one for 'Employment, Jobseeking and Training'. I don't know if it's any good, never tried it.
Many finance jobs are found through recruitment consultants once you get past the most basic entry-level positions, but some internet searches and job listing websites will help you more than speaking to investors and savers here.0 -
