Late payment on my credit file

I have been checking my credit file in preparation for applying for a new mortgage to move house and have noticed that Virgin Media have added a late payment for the final month I was with them in 2011, this account was set up on direct debit and I have just checked my account and the final payment was made to them around the same date as previous months were, it was a little bit more than the others too as I assume this was because I needed to pay a few extras with me cancelling the service.
I'm certain that no payment was made to them late as they were in charge of deducting my direct debit so any late payments would have been due to them.
How do I start with this I cant find any contact details, I wanted to do it all in writing but I'm assuming I will need to call them

A single late payment back in 2011 in the history of an account is unlikely to affect credit applications. So just ignore it. It will drop off next year anyway.0

Just found this number on their forums given to someone else with a credit report issue: 0345 454 1111 .
I wouldn't wait for it to drop off as it may impact the rate you are offered. Not an issue if it was a credit card you intended to pay off in full each month, but on a mortgage, it may result in you paying more than you should. I have read cases on here of mortgages being declined because of a single marker.0 -

Yes, it does happen. A single late payment can blacklist you. They are often the result of a mistake on the part of either the creditor or the debtor, but no matter, the not-fit-for-purpose UK credit reporting regime still publishes them.0 -
Thanks I'll try that number tomorrow, I don't want to leave it just in case Im sure it shouldn't be there as my account was in credit so it must be a mistake0

Oh hell apparently I cancelled the virgin DD before the final payment came out so ended up making the payment a little late, only by about a week.
The woman I spoke to on the phone said she would send a note to have it removed, she said it shouldn't be there as they gave me the late charge payment back, just gave to wait and see now if they do cause I suppose they don't have to because technically it was late0 -
More importantly how did you cancel the account?0
