Of course rain water is clean. Its perfectly drinkable.

Rain water is not clean at all - and it's certainly not clean if it's been collected via a roof.

When I clean my pond filter, all the muck - including water creatures, goes in a dustbin, which I top up with rain water from the butts - I use it to water inside the greenhouse - plants love it.
