am now convinced DRO is best way forward for me, can anyone advise how long the process takes? thanks in advance for help

That all depends on who you go to for advice. Each CAB will vary from bureau to bureau, I guess for StepChange and NDL it depends on how busy they are, but for you to provide details needed, an intermediary to check it, may take a few weeks. It's then as quick as you can pay the £90 and contact the intermediary to submit0

wba31 is right that it will most likely depend on how busy the organisation is that you apply through. I know our DRO application times vary depending on demand. We would be able to give you a more specific timescale at the point of starting the application, if you applied through us today it would take around 5 weeks.
