Loan companies from 1990's

So far I've had great success, I've claimed back almost £1000 of PPI from a £2k loan from back in 1995 ! Thank you MARTIN !!:j
However, my husband and I had loans form companies in teh years following in the 90's and for the life of us we can not remember the loan companies names.
They were heavily advertised, and leaflets and flyers fell out of every magazine on teh news agents shelves. But we can not remember what they were called.
Is there any way of finding out your financial history that far back ??
WE had only just got ourselves out of debt, and repaired out credit history enough to get a loan again for essentials such a car. So we were very vulnerable to being told we could not get the loan unless we took the insurance and we did this at least twice more before we got wise.

Debt free HOORAY !:T :A Years from now it won't matter what kind of car we drove, what kind of house we lived in, how much money we had in the bank, nor what our clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, we were important in the lives of our children.

Your credit record is only there for the last 6 years so unless you have documentation then you're going to just need to google a lot and see what turns up. Do note if you have no records and the loans were paid off more than 6 years ago, chances are they will have destroyed records in line with the DPA (if they are even still trading) so you'd not be able to prove you paid PPI (assuming you even had it) and your complaint would go nowhere.
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
