Changing DDs

Options
Sorry if this is a silly question, I have 2 accounts with Natwest. One for bills and one for spending. My spending account is a basic one, my bills one is a rewards one with contactless card. I'd like to switch the two so I can take advantage of the rewards and the contactless card, but how hard is it to swap my DD's do I need to contact each account directly?

to change a DD you need to contact the company you have the DD with (e.g. if you have a DD that pay british gas then you need to contact them)
  • With HSBC, if you have two accounts you can switch a DD from one to other via online banking and there's no need to contact the beneficiary. Once you've switched though, you're not allowed to switch back. Don't know about NatWest but it's worth enquiring if you can do the same.

With many companies this can be done online.

If you switch DDs to the basic account, will you not stop receiving cashback on the bills?

I don't get any cash back on my bills - they're all just debt payments, I don't have anything in terms of actual real bills any more!

    I don't pay for it?
  • I honestly do not pay any money for it - I put to the penny the exact amount for my bills each month.
