Norton 360 Auto Renewal

I received a warning notice of one month advising me that my Norton 360 protection was due to expire. The cost of renewing was £49.99.
To my horror this was taken from my account some seven days later.
I know from experience that this product can be bought elsewhere for far cheaper.
I telephoned the number given on their email and told them I wanted to cancel the renewal.
They asked why I wanted to cancel the product. I told them that I will be purchasing the product elsewhere.
They immediately offered to reduce the £49.99 fee to £25 as a one off gesture.
I accepted as I suspected that I wouldn't get it much cheaper than that from Curry's etc.
I have also turned off the auto renewal option in my account so next year, hopefully, I will receive a more sensible quote for the product when it is due.
