in Credit cards
I posted this in the BR forum perhaps I should have posted here instead. Can someone advise how easy it is to get a Nationwide Select credit card if you are a Nationwide customer? I was BR (bankrupt) just under six years ago but have since cleaned up my file and have a few credit builder cards to further improve my CF. last summer Nationwide let me open a full standard account and yesterday I stated the official switch (using the 7 day switching service) to using Nationwide as my main account for salary etc.

I got one about 5 years in, so it is possible, best bet would be to apply and when you get to the quotation stage if your APR is 19.9 and a low limit the chances are low when you go to full application or if you get a low limit say 500 and a lower APR, still no guarantee but evidence on here, do a search seems to hold that theory has been discussed a lot in past. Might be worth waiting though till your 6 years is up. But if you've not applied for anything for over 6 months one search is not going to impact your file much. I assume your other cards are credit builders rather than main stream. Nationwide use experian and call credit.

You can check your eligibility during the application process before a hard search is carried out.
I ran through this process last month it offered me £2000 at 15.9% but i recently opened a bank account at nationwide earlier that month, just tried it now and the search has quoted me £1000 19.9% APR, so i will avoid applying for a few months.
I've also got previous adverse credit and ive been using credit builder cards to build up my credit file.
Let us know how you get on.0 -

Thanks both. As well as just making the shift to mainstream CC's (currently have Vanquis, Aqua and Capial One) I'd actully like to get the card mainly to use when spending aboard this summer as the Select CC is one of those no fees/commission on purchases abroad cards. I'm not off on holidays until late June so I'll wait until beginning of June and then give it a try. As you say, no harm in one search on my account and by June I would have been banking with them for almost a year (although only 3 months with them as main account with salary paid in) and my BR and the defaults will also have fallen off my credit file too.0
