O/S Daily Monday 15 February 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. DS2 still in his pit, he’s on half term hols.

Still dark, the temperature has dropped – can’t tell tell whether we have a very heavy frost or a dusting of snow this morning.

Lunch yesterday was delicious roast pork/roast chicken, roasties, mash, carrots, peas, cauli/broc cheese, Yorkshires, stuffing and gravy, apple pie/raspberries, meringue and cream – those that wanted some opted for it later in the afternoon. Outlaws enjoyed their meal – nice to finish off the afternoon watching the rugby. Various LO’s so will be utilising them into a meal over the next day or so, but it definitely won’t be going in the bin. Tonight I’d menu planned pasta with cream and bacon sauce – may use the LO’s tonight – I can decide later.

Back to work for me today – don’t know what today will bring, we’re supposed to be in our quiet time, but the last 2 weeks on a Monday and Tuesday we’ve been really busy – and this week it’s half term here so very often that’s busy and noisy – we’ll see.

Have good Mondays’ everyone x

Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone.

Cold morning but I'm still under the duvet.

After arriving back home yesterday I had a very techie rest of the day. The new printer is (eventually) set up and working. It's so much lighter, faster and better than the old one so I feel good about the change.

I was given a new iPad mini as an early birthday present :j but the setting up of that was much more of a problem. Managed OK until I somehow activated 'voice over' and then couldn't get my passcode in. I knew how to get out of it but it wouldn't work so I phoned the support line. A lovely Irish chap told me to do exactly what I had been doing for the last half hour - and it bloomin' worked! So annoying :rotfl:

Today I have to try and follow a load of advice in the tech forum about the were laptop. I may need a bucket of tea to help me along.

I came back from mums with some of her unwanted frozen food to add to my own pile. It never ends.

Anyway, I feel a snooze coming up. I hope everyone has a good Monday.

    Morning :hello:

I've spent the last few days organising my laptop, setting up new spreadsheets for the next tax year and ordering bits and pieces for work. I'm going to concentrate on making things for now, ready to start selling again in April. I've also been rescuing as many photos as I can from Facebook and Photobucket, it's taking ages so if anyone knows how to save Facebook photos in bulk instead of doing one time, I'd be grateful if you'd let me know :D

Scampi has a new friend, Milo the Staffy pup :D I've just realised that I know a lot of the dogs names but I have no idea what the human owners are called, lol. The owner is a carer so her shifts are all over the place but we're going to get together at some point and take the dogs over to the big field up the road to have a run around together. Hopefully it'll become a regular thing, we really need to work on Scampi's manners when it comes to meeting new dogs. He's much better off the lead, with the lead on he barks at them like crazy.

I'll put the washing machine to work in a mo, the bedding needs doing plus one load of clothes. I need to sort through the fresh food, it's all OK really but a few bits need using up quickly. I usually chop some of it up for the chickens :D Then we're out for a walk – it'll probably be short, it's half-term so too many children out and about for Scampi to cope with! I'll see how he gets on and head home as soon as he gets a bit nervy. I'm making new cushion covers for the lounge so will carry on with that later.

    Morning All

Dry here, still dark but I think it's to be another lovely day so the washing is ready to go out.

Usual stuff here, have a trip out with some children from school today then netball, have loads to do at work too including sorting out some ordering that I made a mess of!

Have a good week everyone. Take care. XX

    Morning all,

Very cold here again but no hint of snow :(. Off to work for me and as its half term it will be manic busy I shall be fit for nothing at the end of the week.

I have ordered some shallots and vinegar etc to make some pickled onions some for Christmas and some for now (well when they are ready|) we had some shallots from lidl the other day which were so tasty so hope these ones are ok.

Left over roast for dinner tonight its all ready so its just a cast of shoving in the oven, dd has a day off today so she can put it in. We will have to run up to the bank tonight and get some money out for her driving lessons thank god her dad is paying (as a 21st present) as they are so expensive now.

Topsy how is it going ?

    Have good days all xx
  • Morning all. Brr it's a cold one this morning and we have a covering of snow too. The gritters were round (very noisily) early on so the roads are now clear fortunately.

The forecast is for sun and 3 degrees! So we are going to have a day out and make the most of our childfree and almost medical appointmentless week! We are going to get the bus to Otley as we haven't been for ages. It takes about an hour from town but it's quite a pleasant run. We'll start with a brisk walk beside the river, a browse of the charity shops and the fabulous second hand bookshop (even though I really don't need any more!) and finally a late pub lunch before getting the bus home again.

I didn't get the ironing done yesterday after all, so that will be shoved out of sight for another day! After yesterday's washloads it's now even bigger.

GERS I feel stressed for you with all your techie stuff to sort. I go in panic mode if I don't get things to work first time! Mr TA is no help whatsoever as he is braindead when faced with anything remotely technical! It takes him all his time to use the tv remote!!

Have a good day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. Hope the poorlies, including GINGE, are feeling better. Take care and keep warm! xx

    Morning all,

Slept well thankfully. Only woke up twice. Once for me and once for a dog. Still knackered though.

Hubby and Youngest left for work late. Hubby moaning that he's knackered and Youngest complaining he has back ache. I must be doubly unfortunate I am/have both.

Still concerned about the wound on 'Ginges' bum though it doesn't seem to be bothering her. I'll check it this morning. Bathe it if necessary and give it a bit of a blast on the cool setting of Youngests hair dryer.

    Onwards and forwards

    Have a great day all

I hope you feel better soon Lainey
Cold here, the temperature is 0deg here.
I've fed the fish and dropped hubby at work, I'll spend half an hour online & then get some jobs done.
I need to clear the kitchen table, but can never do it properly as hubby always has to keep some of his stuff there, currently 2 magazines, a book, a hat, a tin and a teatowel to do his foot exercises with. Hey ho, I don't care about the mess but he does!
The dishwasher will go on in a sec & I will clear out another kitchen cupboard. Yesterday I sorted out some cook books and some wine glasses to go to the CS.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Good Morning all and a cold and frosty one here in north Kent.Just have to take the DGS to the dentist today for their checkup then back to their house for lunch and it will be a film to watch with the boys on the sofa this afternoon far too chilly to go anywhere.
No shopping that is really needed so far this week anyway.
DD and her OH are in New York this week and apparently it -16 so even colder for them. But they like to go shopping in the half term break so I guess the shops will be warm at least. Not my idea of fun,but each to their own
Hope you all have a good Monday and keep warm and dry if possible

    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's chilly but sunny here this morning. Hubby has gone off to work and the girls are still snoozing. I got up for a couple of hours in the night with a bit of a bad tum but I managed to go back to bed and sleep for another few hours so I feel ok now.

I am going to make a ratatouille this morning to have for lunch and then we are having pork steaks, broccoli and roasties. Well I will just be having the pork and broccoli. Looking forward to it already :D.

TravellingAbuela, your plans for the day sound absolutely lovely, I look forward to doing something similar in the future.
Judi, hope Ginge is on the mend, I did have a giggle picturing you 'blow drying' her bottom :D:D

Well, my DD14 is going to dye my hair for me later when she gets up, I have been going grey for about a year now and she hates it as it makes me look old :rotfl:. I thought I would humour her and let her colour it as it would be a good practice before the wedding in the summer. I fully expect to have dyed ears before the day is out :).

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
