Reclaim with unknown account numbers

Hi,

After seeing ML's TV show, I'm finally looking to claim back miss sold PPI from my old store cards that I had a few years ago. None of the old accounts or details are showing on my clearscore online account and I can no longer find any bank statements as i've moved a couple of times.

The accounts were with SELECT, River Island, New Look, Dorothy Perking and Top Shop. I think they were either a subsidiary of Santander or GE Money.

Who will I need to contact to see if I can still claim? Who would I need to send a SARs to?

Thanks,
PL19

The Santander > FOS (Ombudsman) > Genworth route is proving successful for eg students who had store cards with the Arcadia Group (DP, Top Shop, Burtons, etc) around 2000 onwards.

In recent days, several have reported successful claims this way.

Santander should be able to provide the account numbers to complete your PPI Questionnaire. They may reject the claim, however, you can refer it to the FOS who may direct you to the insurer/underwriter Genworth who seem to be dealing with these historic liabilities.

From memory, Select PPI claims were dealt with by GE in Glasgow until a few years ago; but, now RBS (Southend-on-Sea) are dealing with PPI Qs.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

Here's the link for the address for Genworth:

  • You can ask for details from the businesses you had cards with. However, if the accounts were closed some time ago, there is no guarantee they still hold records either.

If they do not then you have nobody to complain to.
  • Thanks Mersey,

What do I need to send to Santander to get my old account info?

Phone Santander's dedicated PPI helpline, number on their website.

If your accounts were still open in the last 10 years they may have some information on their systems. I obtained details of a Burtons store card opened in 1990 by sending a SAR.

Just give them your full name, DOB, any previous surnames and addresses. As NewDay took over from Santander in 2014, they may advise you to contact NewDay for complaints.
