Named Driver- Help

Hello,
I am not sure if this is he correct place to post, or if this should be under motoring.
Last year one of my friends put me down as a named driver on her car insurance policy. I had driven her car a few times and it did bring the cost of insurance down. I am older and have 5 years NCD.
Since then we have fallen out, and I think I am still on her policy. It's been over a year since I've last driven this car, and I don't want to still be named on it.
I cannot for the life of me remember which insurance company she used for her car insurance. Is there anyway I could find out and get myself removed?
Thanks

Why should it matter if you don't drive it.
  • What would happen if there was an accident and they said "oh it wasn't me driving it was a named driver?" People change a lot after a friendship falling out. I just wanted to know if there was any way to find out

Even if you did find out you wouldn't be able to get yourself removed from the policy without them ringing up and doing it themselves.
But i don't see a problem with you being a named driver. If they wanted to say you were driving during an accident they can if your on the insurance or not.

The policyholder may have a problem keeping you as a named driver.

The policyholder undertakes to keep the insurer informed of any job changes/convictions/incidents/claims/losses/health conditions that must be reported to DVLA etc of any named driver(s)

As you aren't speaking presumably any of these that you experience won't get passed on which could come to light in the event of any claim by or against the policyholder, or any routine request for named drivers' copy licences etc!

If there are no disadvantages to being a named driver, and a higher-risk policyholder gets a lower premium as a result, there ought to be market opportunities for selling named-driverships? :)

There would be big disadvantages in your scheme.

It's the policyholders responsibility to keep the insurer informed of any changes regarding any named drivers. See #5.

Not notifying anything gives the insurer the opportunity to void the policy
