Sealing the external gap around a window frame

Good afternoon.
Im currently experiencing an issue with some water ingress on our bedroom wall, there is a damp patch in the far right corner of the wall, both walls are external walls where they meet and some dripping water from the top of the hole where the window is.
Im slowly going through ticking possible issues off and have come across one that i thought i would seek your advice on.
In the past 3 months we have had some new windows put in our two upstairs back bedrooms, both of which had to be fitted from inside due to the rather large conservatory covering the back of the house.
I noticed today, after hiring a gutter hoover and clearing them, that there is a decentish sized gap between the window frame and the brick work and there is no evidence of any silicone sealant.
So i was wondering if it was normal to NOT silicone seal the outside gap between the window frame and the brick work.
As an aside the day after we has the windows done we also had the conservatory done so if its normal to seal the outside too then they could have taken this opportunity whilst there was no conservatory in the way.
sorry if this is long winded but im running out of ideas about where this leak is coming from and hoping this could be a quick fix

The window frame must be sealed to the brickwork, if it isn't then water will get through the gap resulting in moisture and damp around the window and potentially into the cavity.
It needs sealing.0 -

Great thanks for that, i had a sneaking suspicion this must be the case, just kinda curious how they seal windows from outside if they were, for example, 5 stories up?
I'll get on the phone 1st thing tommorow.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
The frame is fitted without the glass. This should be sealed before the glass is fitted.
