Removing mould smell from towels and in general?

We use some towels in our attic during stormy conditions when we get a small leak during storms. These towels that we re-use now smell mouldy. What is the best way to get rid of a mould smell from towels (anything to add after washing) etc?
Secondly, our attic smells a bit mouldy/musty. Are they are neutralizers out there good to counteract mouldy smells?

Personaly when I had a leak and some musty smelling towels, I give them a good hot was (at least 60) and a few caps fulls of this

Worked for me.

Try 60 deg wash with Bi carbonate of soda. May take couple of washes but it works... We also use Dettol laundry cleaner, while that's good I just don't like the smell....0

Then hang them out in the sun and wind to dry.0

Napisan, made for using on cloth nappies, works wonders on towels. You can soak first if you want, but I find it works by just putting it in the wash.
It's by the baby stuff in some shops, and by the vanish in others.0 -
I'd sort the leak before worrying about smelly towels!0

The mouldy smell in the attic would concern me far more than a few pongy towels since it suggests that water is causing actual damage in the loft ie to the roof structure itself!0

Try them on a hot wash with some dettol anti-bacterial powder or liquid. If that doesn't work, throw them out and buy new ones!0

As above; sort your leak out before you need to replace rotting roof members.
Penny wise, pound foolish springs to mind.0 -
I think a very hot wash with some bicarb soda should do the trick, leave the towels outside after to dry properly before storing them inside!0
