B&q product reviews

Options
I leave you to judge the value of product reviews on B&Q's website. Below is B&Q's reply to my product review about an extremely bad product I received and their atrocious customer service.

MY REVIEW

The Very Poorest Quality
The veneer on several panels in the first two I bought was missing or damaged. Their replacements were no better but I salvaged two out of four. They are outrageously poor and the Cooke and Lewis is really Norbord. Never again.
Collection of the returned items even after three contacts with B&Q was hopeless and lost me three days. Never again, again.

Dear Usually Tolerant Man
We have read your review and value your contribution even though it did not meet all our website guidelines. Thanks for sharing, and we hope to publish next time.

Thanks again, B&Q

Do turkeys vote for Christmas, if you want reviews published then use independent sites.

If you read the T's & C's of leaving a review you will see that rule 1 is

Please note that we can not publish the following:

Statements pertaining to delivery, availability or customer service

You've mentioned customer service in your review so they won't publish it. Which is correct as this is meant to be a product review not a review of the customer service of B&Q.

To be fair I left a review for a clip on lamp that was factual, along with a photo showing how the clip had snapped (the plastic used becomes very brittle under stress). Apparently that didnt meet their criteria either, but they would not explain which bit!!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
  • As with most sites, the reviews need to be about the product itself and anything pertaining to a one-off complaint will never be published.

As a reader of reviews, I want to see honest and useful statements about quality and durability etc- not a long diatribe about how a complaint was (not) dealt with.

If you have a complaint, then write to their Customer Service but there really is little point trying to expedite a complaint by abusing a company's website..

I'd still expect these to be about the product rather than the service received.
