"BAC - ANMF CREDIT" in bank account

I've just had a credit on my bank account with the description "BAC ANMF CREDIT" but I wasn't expecting any money and I don't know what it's for.

It's a Natwest bank account, and I have just switched my mortgage from Santander to Natwest so I'm thinking it must be something to do with the mortgage?

Does anyone know what ANMF even stands for, I've googled it, but all I get is the"Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation"! don't think that's anything to do with me, lol.

One of Santander's antecedents was Abbey National, so as a pure guess - Abbey National Mortgage Finance? Many of their internal references appear not to have been updated,
  • A quick Google search and I found this

20 Apr 2013 - The company said borrowers who had loans with its Abbey business were sent a confusing letter about a rule change back in 2008. UP to 30,000 mortgage customers will get refunds after banking giant Santander admitted a blunder. ... When the Halifax made a similar blunder in 2009 it ...

It might be relevant to the thread.
  • Ah, very interesting. I hadn't heard about this at all before now. It looks like they must have been waiting until the mortgage ended (or I switched) before they paid out the money. I wonder how many other people are due some money back on their old Abbey mortgages that have no idea about it. Thanks for the replies.

I would suggest to both of you that you call your banks and ask them if they can provide any further information regarding the origin of these credits to your accounts.
  • I just received this in my bank account and looks like other people as I have just closed my Santander mortgage.
