OVO's customer service

All the reviews I've read suggest that OVO are very good on customer service. Last week, I checked the comparison sites and saw that I could save a lot of money with them. I phoned their sales team to check and this revealed that the sites had exaggerated the saving. Still, £600 per year isn't bad.

I got a quote, agreed the switch over the phone, and was promised an email as confirmation. When this had not arrived the next day, I contacted them to let them know. They couldn't find my details. I was asked for my address, but four days on, they still haven't replied.

Just shows you. It's not always that easy to switch.

Have you really been over paying by £600 per year on energy? Any costs/savings are meaningless unless the comparison is based on accurate projections of kWH usage. FWiW, I left Ovo a couple of months ago. Their customer service is good but not stellar; some of their e-mails are confusing and the ability of customer service staff to deal with anything out-of-the-ordinary is limited. I now have separate gas and electricity accounts which is saving me a £100 per year when compared to Ovo's best fixed tariff.

I assume the OP means their total cost will be £600 a year.

I don't know why anyone would switch directly over the phone rather than claiming cashback from a comparison site.

I agree: it could be read both ways. Many of the smaller energy companies are now dropping third-party referral fees in favour of lower prices. Ovo has yet to do so.

I'm leaving them as they've lost the details so I'm not recognised to do anything on the account.
